PIPER THEATRE SUMMER PROGRAMS:
nurturing and exciting education programs for children
Piper Theatre Workshop
(Ages 11 – 16)
Join us for Piper Theatre Workshop – one of the most exciting drama programs in Brooklyn. There is magic in creating theatre, in working together as a group, in spending a summer day playing in the neighborhood and being creative. Under the care of experienced directors, each child becomes part of a small company of student actors creating a challenging theatrical production. Days are broken up by Specials — classes in fight choreography (broadsword/fencing), improvisation, theatre games and vocal technique.
Auditions for specific roles will take place on July 5, the first day of the program. Preferences will be considered in selection but are NOT guaranteed. A commitment to a full day of performances on Saturday, July 31 is required.
The Very Bad Girls Scouts, an original tale written and directed by John P. McEneny.
The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, directed by Michael Buffer.
One of Shakespeare’s most complicated comedies and a classic battle between genders.
Peer Gynt directed and devised by Scott Raker.
Inspired by the play by Henrik Ibsen and the opera by Edvard Grieg, this original production explores the adventures of Peer Gynt in the Norwegian folkworld of reindeer hunts, trolls, green women, the Egyptian Sphinx, shipwrecks, and his meeting with the mysterious Lean Man.
The Pink Panther, adapted and directed by Laura Dillman.
The bungling French police detective Jacques Clouseau comes to Washington Park, with another great adventure.
