Kate Prascher is a mandolinist and singer from the muddy delta town of Memphis, Tennessee. She grew up on equal parts blues, country and jazz with a heaping helping of soul thrown in for good measure. Kate now performs music in the style of the bluegrass boys with the Buffalo Nickels in various venues throughout New York City including Rockwood Music Hall, Jalopy and the Parkside Lounge. By day, she wrangles wonderful students at PS 8 The Robert Fulton School. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Barnard College and a Master of Science in Education from Brooklyn College. In 2011, she was a National Endowment for the Humanities Teaching Summer Scholar during which time she studied the history of Appalachian peoples and fulfilled a longtime ambition to go clogging on a Saturday night at the Carter Family Fold.
