Starlings Summer 2019

Ages 7 to 11
Voice, movement, storytelling and dramatic play!  In each of these sessions young performers have fun as they hone their craft. Stay for one session or more. While preferences for workshops are considered, placement in a particular company is NOT guaranteed.

Session 1:  July 1 – 12 (closed July 4)
Session 2: July 15 – 26

9 am to 3 pm

Early drop-off 8:15 am to 9 am
Extended day 3 pm to 5 pm

$1000 Puppetry (includes materials)
$500 nonrefundable deposit per session due upon registration.

Limited financial aid available for all workshops. Apply upon registration. Financial Aid application deadline May 1. Deposit waived pending award decision.

 

SESSION 1: July 1 – 12 (closed July 4)

Shakespeare
The Tempest (Ages 8 – 11)
Shakespeare’s final play–an epic tale of a magician who is reunited with his shipwrecked brother and features a magical world of sprites and monsters. “We are such stuff as dreams are made on…”

Puppetry (Ages 7 – 11)
A hands-on creative workshop. Learn to build a variety of styles including marionettes, shadow and Bunraku puppets, and then create worlds of adventure with them.

Aesop’s Fables (Ages 7 – 10)
Aesop, a Greek slave, created classic tales and lessons in the 5th Century BCE that have grown and been adapted through many cultures. Tales include The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg, Town Mouse and Country Mouse, Fox and the Stork and more.

 

SESSION 2:  July 16 – 27

Shakespeare

Carlo Collodi’s tale of a woodcarver that turns a log into a puppet who yearns to be a real boy.
