A Piper summer is all about adventure!

Company members collaborate to create a full-scale production. Days are filled with physical theatre; ‘specials’ classes on stage combat, clowning, improvisation and puppetry; and ‘Fun Fridays,’ when the entire Piper community plays group games, engages in a process drama, or sees a film!

Performances take place the week of July 25- 29 with a full day of performances July 30. Due to the performance nature of the program, students are expected to attend EVERY day.

Auditions take place on the first day, July 5. While preferences for workshops are considered, placement in a particular company is NOT guaranteed. Age placement at the discretion of the director. Workshops limited to 15 students, except where indicated.

Alice in Wonderland
By Lewis Carroll
Adapted and directed by Lindsey Sproul

A “curious and curiouser” girl follows a white rabbit into a mad world of wild tea parties, shape-shifting curios, and the antics of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.  “Why is a raven like a writing desk?”

Beastmaster

Adapted by John P. McEneny
Directed by Aaron Novak

Born with the courage of an eagle, the strength of a black tiger and the power of a god, Dar must defeat the evil high priest Maax in the kingdom of Aruk in this adventure inspired by the classic Don Coscarelli film.  A summer of swordplay and fantasy.

The Tragedy of King Lear
By William Shakespeare
Directors Rob and Laura Parker

Guest artists Rob and Laura Parker from the Gordonstoun School in Scotland will be in residence this summer to create an engaging tale of a dying mad king, his duplicitous daughters and eye gouging.  Students should have an interest in working in verse and a willingness to engage in a very physical production.
