For over 24 years, Piper Theatre Productions has been dedicated to producing innovative and dynamic theater, introducing young people to the theatrical arts, and providing opportunities for emerging artists to showcase their talent.
Now in its fourth year, the Musicals Now residency program presents a new musical premiere every June. Most recently, Piper provided free tickets to DOE grade schools, benefiting nearly 600 students.
Piper's celebrated youth theater programs yearly serve over 150 children aged 7 to 17 in afterschool and summer. Programs are held at the Old Stone House and PS 118 Maurice Sendak Community School in Brooklyn, with emphasis on physical theatre and Cecily O’Neill’s Process Drama.
Piper holds a monthly writer’s workshop, Playwrights in Process (PIP), where playwrights and actors can share new work in a supportive setting. Piper also produces four Spotlight residencies where a playwright is paired with paid actors and a director to create a professional reading for the community.
Piper remains dedicated to fostering international partnerships and exchanges, seeking inspiration from storytellers worldwide. Over the past decade, we have been fortunate to be inspired by talented artists from around the globe.
Piper actively engages the communities of Gowanus, Brooklyn Heights, Sunset Park, Kensington, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Carroll Gardens, and East Brooklyn.
